Full Time to Waste

This was a matter close to our hearts. We never imagined how much fun a litter cleanup could be. Six Camonsites set out, equipped with gloves, vests, and lots of enthusiasm. We set off around our neighborhood, along sidewalks, through bushes, and across playgrounds. Our mission was to show that sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it's a real community effort.

No joke—picking up trash can be really fun!

As part of our Camonsite Environment Day and our certification as a "High Performer – Sustainable Partner Berlin," we set out together. In the morning, we had environmental training with a focus on waste prevention. Topics such as packaging, equipment, and the smart use of materials at events were covered. Then, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get out of the office.

Go outside, look around, and get started.

As part of the "Kehrenbürger" initiative, Berlin's city cleaning service supplied us with the proper equipment: high-visibility vests, litter pickers, and sturdy trash bags. So let’s go! We set off in pairs and collected items that would otherwise have been left behind: plastic packaging, paper, etc.

And some unexpected joy: kind encounters.

What touched us most were the reactions of our neighbors. Many stopped to ask who we were and to say thank you. At a playground, children even joined in—just like that! They were curious, motivated, and completely natural. It was a wonderful moment of connection and a sign of how contagious commitment can be.

Theory and action meet, and something of value is created.

Our environmental training was the perfect start to the day. But everything really came together outside. We worked together, changed our perspective, and laughed together. For us, all of this is as much a part of sustainability as emissions data and event logistics. Anyone who has experienced the satisfaction of leaving a street cleaner than they found it will also pay closer attention to the next material planning.

In the end, we had full bags and full hearts.

Our conclusion? Sustainability must be alive. And effective. And, yes, it must be enjoyable. As a team. With attitude. With a smile.

Full time to Waste – and worth every minute.
